Our Mission
Our mission is to improve AI literacy and enable inclusive collaboration through the use of narrative and storytelling techniques.
We believe that storytelling is universal to the human experience, and a powerful way to distill complex, multi-dimensional concepts into specific, relatable examples that enable increased knowledge, engagement and participation across all communities. We believe that AI narratives and storytelling will enable all of us to participate in the conversation about AI.
Our offerings include AI consulting, workshops, coaching, training and community activities, combining our deep technical and analytical knowledge with behavioural change and imaginative storytelling techniques.
Our Story
AI Shophouse was founded by Elaine Ng in October 2022.
While doing her doctoral research on the impact of AI communications on AI inclusion, Elaine realised that the root cause of many AI collaboration and inclusion issues is the inability to engage with people at varying levels of AI literacy. This has resulted in issues with stakeholder management, and a lack of active participation in discussions about the broader impacts of AI, beyond the technology, in areas such as AI's societal impacts, validity of solutions for diverse user communities, and ethical concerns.
AI Shophouse's solutions focus on leveraging AI narratives and storytelling techniques to address these communication and knowledge gaps to enable a more diverse and representative set of voices to be part of the AI conversation. We focus on using tailored communication and people-centred designed techniques to enable collaboration across all levels of AI literacy.
Our goal is to increase greater participation in the design, build and adoption of AI solutions, thus increasing agency over AI usage in our current and future lives.
